November 24, 2023 - Red and black cherry flavors, with powdery tannins that provide requisite frame and speed without becoming too constraining or superficial, the 2018 Red Hen is a beautiful wine. I personally am drawn to the complexity (and perhaps a little wildness) of the 2019, but this 2018 is a close second to its year-younger brother. Air helps here, so I'd suggest holding for a bit. Great potential here.

July 7, 2023 - Another great effort from Maayan and La Pelle, this SVD showed LPV like qualities of embers, blackberries and crushed rock. While I didn't take detailed notes, what I did write down was "rock solid" and "excellent". There's a lot of complexity going on here, and it will probably fall somewhere between the Coombsville and St Helena bottling's with regard to opulence and fruit intensity. I loved all these 2018's, and I think if you bought this wine you'll be very satisfied. I would give it a few years before popping the cork.

July 1, 2023 - Dark fruit on the nose Stil very young but coming together nicely. Somewhat chalky tannins , a slight hint of alcoholic heat Medium acidity. Needs more time in the bottle but these will be excellent. Will revisit again in 3-4 yrs

April 21, 2021 - Exploring 2018s and 2019s in Napa - Spring 2021; 4/18/2021-4/22/2021 (Napa Valley, CA): This one seemed sweeter on the nose compared to the Reserve bottling, with more notes of baking spices, tart red cherry, vanilla, toffee, and tart hawthorne. Super grippy tannins and pretty hot on the palate. Definitely needs more time to integrate. Unfortunately, not my favorite.
