Community Tasting Notes 6

December 1, 2017 - Dark, ruby core browning towards the edges. A deep ripeness powered the dusty, leathery cherry, raspberry, cedar, and graphite bouquet. It developed mature flavors of dark fruit, earth, and a hint of Band-Aid that shined even brighter when paired with spaghetti, with black truffles. Full bodied, earthy, and long, this was tertiary and resolved, but still showed Pauillac's full-flavored character, gaining depth, breadth, and weight as the night wore on.

January 24, 2008 - so sad to get a solid wine past its peak - lost it until I reorged my "cellar". Very Bordeaux - scents of graphite, cigar box mingling with rose petals. The tannins smoothly delicious, the red fruits a bit lost. Impressive for a 27 yrs old bottle, the colors still violet and the flavors intriguing but too much of it has washed away with the years.

March 29, 1996 - The bouquet is light and mature and still has the luxurious elements as described in my previous notes. On the palate however the wine is quite tertiary and on the way down. The fruit is gone. No score.

March 26, 1993 - Ruby with a brown edge. Very attractive mature and complex bouquet with luxurious oak. Good balance between sweetness and acidity. There is still some berry fruit; mainly cassis. And although the aftertaste is a bit short, this is a very good wine.

August 5, 1988 - Clear purple red and not extremely dark. Powerful bouquet with liquorice, cassis, tobacco, cigar box and lead pencil. A firm dose of tannin which is powerful as well as supple. Good acidity, cassis, liquorice and luxury oak in the taste. Long aftertaste in perfect harmony with the rest of the wine. Very impressive for the vintage.
