March 16, 2024 - Opened at Noble Rot Mayfair. Served from Coravin.
Originally served a bit too cold, but after 15 minutes in the glass to breathe and warm up this was really singing. Buttery and going down like velvet, whilst balanced with strong salinity and acidity that gave it a lot of precision.
This was better than the 2014 that I had two weeks ago, and drinking so well now despite its youth. With more age it will probably round out more and may eke out an extra point, but it is already in a good phase and unlike some other Domaines doesn't have overwhelming acidity. I'm not sure if there is a risk that this wine will 'go to sleep' - not enough experience to tell yet - but the more I have Lamy-Caillat the more I enjoy their wines. Always a treat. -
