  February 19, 2024 - This is a vivid yellow colored wine. As expected from a viognier, the nose is very floral with honeysuckle and violets. The wine has flavors of apricot, white peach, and orange peel. The body is medium to full with a rich, silky consistency. Francois Villard is just about my favorite Condrieu winemaker. The structure here is solid with harmonious complexity. This is a good aromatic wine. Being that Condrieu is a small vintacultural area the $40 price is very fair for this quality.

  July 3, 2023 - Deep straw yellow bordering on pale gold. A lively and fragrant wine with a mineral-driven tension. Stewed apricots, charentais melon, and funky tropical flowers drive the nose, with some oak treatment representing as pretty vanilla and toast, and fresh buttery bread aromas belie extended lees contact, which serves this wine well. A wild whiff of white pepper pops up here and there, intruiging as it goes with fine condrieus.
  
  The palate is creamy and dense, almost drying from a chalky minerality and refined acidity. Stewed tropical fruit, croissant dough, and a tangy note not unlike crème fraiche or a whole milk buttermilk that is well restrained by the rich fruit, yeast, and toasty oak characteristics. Artfully balanced and beautiful.

  May 28, 2023 - 2017 N Rhone and Friends (Winchester): Someone said “the best condrieu I’ve ever had” and I can believe it. A discussion over whether minerality replaces acidity in a wine like this. I could tell it was good but I’m yet to have my N Rhone white damascene conversion.

  March 19, 2023 - Pale straw.
  Textured, green, mineral.
  To copy the notes from the merchant: green pineapple.
  Also tinned peaches.
  I've never had a Condrieu so green and mineral. Or tense.
  Great match with the butternut squash and gorgonzola risotto; the wine will not be bullied by the food and proved a good foil to the sweetness.
