May 29, 2023 - Dark fruit (black cherry, slight blackberry), spice, earth, slight plum, slight tobacco, slight sweet note, good acidity. A bit rich. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.

March 25, 2023 - Nice aromas of dark cherry with a touch of tar. Fruit-forward core of dark cherry framed with decent acidity. Definitely tasted heat on the finish...15% alcohol is a lot for a wine to balance. Not a bad effort.

December 10, 2022 - For some unknown reason the US label buries the Superiore designation of this barbera in some filigreed almost unreadable type on the back label. I'm glad I turned the bottle around because I was having a hard time accounting for the richness and yet utter drinkability of the wine.
The nose belts out deep red and black berry fruit with a vein of minerality and baking spices. Mouth-filling with delicious fruit, good acid structure and balance leading to an almost sweet mid-palate and on to the moderately dry long finish. They say alcohol contributes sweetness and here is a case where I suspect that is in play.
While this is plenty rich (15% ABV is well hidden), it manages a degree of elegance due to the overall balance and I did not find it cloying. Appealing on its own and with whatever you want to throw at it from pizza night to eggplant parm to stewed meats in winter. Excellent value around $20.1 person found this helpful Comment -

September 12, 2022 - Toasted cherry, sweet spice. Medium plus intensity acidity, sour cherry, alcohol warmth. Meh.
