Community Tasting Notes 5

April 8, 2024 - Method: tasted at the domaine (in the cellar)

    Nose: olive, cherry, violet, bacon

Palate: cherry, violet; medium finish of violet, herbs; dry; medium body; medium- tannin; medium acidity

Overall thoughts: Some nice complexity and typical/desired Syrah notes, especially on the nose. I can see this improving a bit over the short term (maybe up to 5 more years), but this is probably more for nearer term drinking. Very good wine.

March 14, 2024 - Extremely saturated purple color, with big red legs. Even on PnP, with just a bit of air, the rich scent of earthy, meaty, smoky Syrah grapes is unmistakable--like a baby Cote-Rotie. Good richness and structure, but also silky and elegant, especially on the finish. This is pretty decent for the money, and a definite step up from most Cotes-du-Rhone. Reminds me a bit of the Clape CdR (just a bit less exotic), but that wine costs nearly twice as much. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

February 2, 2023 - This is drinking very nicely now and only needs a bit of air to get going. Medium bodied and balanced This can age but great to drink now.

January 28, 2023 - Lovely smooth fruity flavors with soft tannins and subtle pepper notes

September 29, 2022 - Produced from 100% Syrah from 3 separate parcels located just outside the boundaries of Cote Rotie, the medium-bodied wine is forward, juicy, sweet, fresh, soft, and spicy, with a cherry-packed endnote. Drink from 2022-2027.
