April 8, 2023 - PNP. Nearly opaque purple magenta color. Blueberry cobbler dominates the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.

There’s some potential built into my score. This needs time, but clearly has “it”. Drinks well above its price point.

April 7, 2023 - A few days in Napa with fellow CT'r Cristal2000: Comparatively darker and chewier than the Red Hen, The Ceniza rolls out the blackberry, ash, bitter chocolate, pulverized granite, pencil lead, and wet cave flavors with a gothic and semi-serious presence that is cool and haunting. Jack Skellington Spoooooooky! There are some barky herbs and wilted flower notes that add to the stylish Siouxsie and the Banshees kinda thing going on here. There is a bit more oomph here than the Red Hen, filling the mouth with its dark core in a way that adds intensity and concentration. 96-97 points.

March 31, 2023 - La Pelle Wines (w/CSIMM1161): A step up from the Red Hen, this shows more energy and abject power. With a complex nose of tobacco, embers, herbs, blackberries and violets, there is a real grainy, earthy note at the outset. Fairly full bodied, but also showing some of that mid-palate reticence, this has excellent freshness and real lift from the acidity. Powerful, with a serious, long, and drying finish, this is going to be very age worthy.
