Community Tasting Notes 5

April 17, 2024 - Smoke tainted, unfortunately. Fine on the nose, but very apparent on the palate.

November 29, 2023 - Tasted twice (two different bottles at two different times).
I hesitated to post a tasting note at first because both I and my wife detected smoke residue at first sip. It is not overwhelming enough to make the wine undrinkable, but knocks off a couple of points. Some people might not even notice, so I hate to influence by power of suggestion.
Otherwise, the wine has sufficient acidity, good fruit, and is in a robust style that I like better than Italian Pinot Grigios, yet not cloying like some Alsatian versions.

April 1, 2023 - Best of the Best of Oregon (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Got grass, palm trees(huh?), unripe pineapples and crisp white pears on the nose.

This was full bodied on the palate with slightly bitter notes of pineapple shell and dark bitter stones. There was good acidity here but not enough to keep it from being so heavy on the palate. I was told this was a classic example of a Pinot Gris. I preferred the fresher style of Pinot Gris from Santa Crus Mts.
