    November 24, 2023 - Golden yellow

    Apricot, peach, vanilla, tropical fruits

Moderate finish. High alcohol. Would have preferred a little lighter on the ETOH.

Improved dramatically with about 30 min decant. Improves the balance and increases the buttery notes.

April 14, 2023 - Heavy on the oak
    Decent tropical fruit
Previous vintages were muc more memorable

January 13, 2023 - PnP, served chilled. Fresh on the nose, some fruit, buttery approach, less fruit and acidity than others may like. A decent everyday drinker at a fair price - IF - you like the approach.

February 25, 2022 - Fresh bright, varietal Chardonnay with a wide range of carmelized tropical fruits & Citrus and a substantial amount of toasted Oak. As this is there Flag ship wine from this Appelation ( the River stone bottling shared that ) but I would believe mostly barrel fermentation and malolactic from vanilla and butter flavors and aromas. As a fan of the Appelation as an underdog … I wish I could taste the fruit in it pure form. The Wente bottling started out like that and was always in my cellar, but there blowing up the flavor profile to get almost twice the price in recent years as they had great scores. Many times I’ve stared at the River stone bottling at its everyday price tag… but I don’t lift if from the case…It’s because I determined I don’t like their wine making style of muted fruit and carmelized flavors. As well as it is made and some may be a super fan at $20, it’s too carmelized for me to really enjoy and lack of acid as well. The wine did become more balanced as it sat in the decanter over a few hours. I live 5 miles from the winery… but distance doesn’t make the heart grow fonder.
