October 19, 2007 - Fine colour - pale blood, just a touch of mahogany. Lovely nose - soft cherry fruit, real meatiness and a touch of spice. Soft and velvety mouth entry but with really zingy acidity behind. Quite full and black cherry fruity. Good spiciness and a long finish. Just a bit too warm and concocted for me. 3+

January 1, 2006 - Medium blood/garnet, quite broad slightly paler rim. Quite some legs. Intense meaty nose with rich blackcurrant jam fruit and a touch of woody spice. Very nice nose, but somewhat simple and forward. Slightly sweet in the mouth, with very forward acidity. Medium weight of fruit and good tannin and oak balance. Again nice, but not quite knitted together. Finish really quite short compared to expectation from nose and palate, with a slight medicinal hint. Almost, but not quite, a very good wine. Unlikely to improve. Top **
