February 23, 2024 - Imagine feral, grapey Cornas crossed with Trollinger—massed black drupelets, stone, coffee, scented twigs. Mountain mint. Pinecone. Racy ink. Acidity slightly leads tannins here. A broad, sappy grip of sour berry skin gathers into icy points, to puncture a fabric of refined and determined grip. Poppyseed. Roasted fennel roots. Truffle iron. Quenching. Salt tar,
From a bottle open 45 hours, resealed in and out of the fridge. There is something to gain by aging Peillot's Mondeuse 3-8 years—integration, coherence, scent.
    12% abv.

August 10, 2022 - Spicy freshness on the nose. Earthy and fruity all at the same time. Spicy and tang on the palate and a touch of medicinal. So fun, but I think could be cleaner. Darker fruited than Jura reds.

February 6, 2022 - NOSE: ambient, distant rumors of black fruit and grey stone. After 10 minutes: boysenberry, hazelnut, lemon peel—withholding. MOUTH: an easy, intuitive drink. A fitted, durable fabric of ripe tannin and juicy, playful, berry-generated acidity. All this accessibility is a lure! Over time, the drink gradually speaks in tones more grave. The grapes and aggregated drupes attenuate to rigid, reed-like structures, seasoned and savory. The tannins are revealed as stoic gate-work, leading to rinsed slabs of rock. PERSPECTIVE: this cuvée varies greatly from vintage to vintage, and hardly in a way that allows me to pick favorites among them. 2020 is not an example of extraction, nor chewy, oily rich texture. Nor is it piercing and busy. I suppose it’s a goldilocks, and I look forward to drinking more of it over the next 2-5 years. 91+ points.
