February 11, 2021 - Signature Coche aromatics of flint, popcorn, nut fruit, and caramel. Lively palate with good richness and weight. It has everything you want from an aged Coche.

November 19, 2019 - Perrieres: ‘89 Perrieres pitted against ‘89 Rougeots by a leading Coche Collector. Both absolutely perfect. Impossibly fresh. Have never seen a white burg this old show as clean and pure as both of these. It was truly neck and neck, the Rougeots stood up to the Perrieres and even showed stronger for the first while. The reduction is inimitably Coche and is wonderful, but there is so much more to these than just that matchstick on top, effortlessly powerful and massive but so nimble and cut. Both in the top whites I’ve ever had actually. Coche is almost always brilliant no matter what, and nothing smells quite the same, but these both took it to a whole other level of excellence. Damn close to perfect-100. I’d say this gives me great hope for my ‘90, but there is no way my bottle will be as good as this guy’s.

November 28, 2018 - Caramel, buttery aromatics. Viscous, intense palate. Very much alive. Terrific Rougeots.

Burgundy-Report

(Coche-Dury Meursault Rougeots) The nose is reasonably toasty, some width and a little spent match (gunflint) - but relatively primary for all that. Given time the glass fills with aromas and added complexity. The palate has understated entry, is wonderfully intense in the mid-palate - but I’m no fan of a flavour profile that (for me) from time to time hints at taint - I must have been wrong because it faded rather than got worse. On its own I’m still unconvinced, but this wine transformed with food (scallops) it became as polished as the 89 villages, alone it’s merely very good.
