Community Tasting Notes 5

October 30, 2014 - Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2014-08; Monastery wines. (By EvA & TdJ): Beautiful and expressive bouquet with ripe red berry fruits, earth and some oak. On the palate certainly for a Burgundy a lot of sweetness of ripe red fruits also some acidity, soft and integrated tannin and a medium length. The hot vintage is noticeable. Some thought it was too ripe and already a bit too old. I liked the wine. Drink now.

April 14, 2014 - Very good backbone and structure. Balanced and mineraly. A bit low on fruit but stood to food fantastically.

November 6, 2013 - Gorgeous rustic nose with lots of barnyard 'aromas'... ;) The palate was less impressive, but did improve through the night.

July 15, 2013 - It is somewhat brown colored. It is fizzling out and does not have the Umph but still hold together well. Good structure and tertiary flavors.

January 1, 2008 - Quite pale burnt cherry colour. Very savoury earthy nose, a touch smoky, and with nice sour cherry fruit. Round and sauvage in the mouth. Well balanced but lacks real intensity. 3+

(Vougeraie Vougeot Clos de la Prieuré Rouge) The nose is deeper, a little reduced, sweet but not too sweet. Quite some density on the palate, low acidity and no sharp edges. An easy wine to drink.
