January 4, 2023 - Going strong - such beautiful power and elegance, gobs of complexity and depth now that it is in a good place for maturity.

April 2, 2022 - 1st of 6, opened an hour then decanted an hour, perfect cork and level - glossy surprisingly dark, dense ruby, little development, leggy; black mainly cherry fruit, nicely spiced, rich and heady, hints of liqueur, not particularly complex; fullish, long, persistent and concentrated, fruit driven, round and polished, impressive energy but tad monolithic at present, significant upside if wine develops as other notes here suggest, years of life ahead. F+ (18)........weight and roundness of 03 but with some of the freshness of 02 if without the transparency of the best.......lovely proper GC wine if without the wow factor others noted, sense of high extraction, may just need more time from my cellar!

March 19, 2022 - Superb wine. Great depth, spice, very long. Served blind some thought Richebourg. In a pretty great spot, but still a few years ago from apogee.

November 5, 2021 - {Purchased by Massachusetts Confrerie on release; perfect fill and all bottles tasted before pouring at annual dinner} Sensational, smoky wine that took a good hour in the glass to fully develop - but with first sip one knew this was a killer wine. Tons of minerals and delicious fruit, lovely scent, forever length. Very complete wine, spherical without any extreme edges, great Grand Cru. Berries, hint of licorice, spice, seductive middle and end with outstanding depth without weight. Poured with the (excellent) 2009 Hospice de Nuits NSG Les Didiers that was more immediately attractive but did not reach the heights of this wine.

(Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Echezeaux) Medium cherry red color with pale meniscus; evocative tart cherry, cherry pie nose; young but tasty, balanced, tart cherry, red fruit, mineral palate with a touch of cinnamon and depth, impressive; medium-plus finish 93+ pts.

Burgundy-Report

(Mugneret Dr Georges Echézeaux) Medium, medium-plus cherry-red. High-toned, a pure core of red-cherry perfume that's under-pinned with subtle spice, swirling accentuates the spice. Ripe tannins and intense red-fruit compete with acidity that needs a little taming. Tons of complexity and purity, fading from the mid-palate burst into the medium-plus-length finish. No shrinking violet this one, but the quality is quite apparent - save for at least 5 years before returning.
