July 11, 2022 - First night had a distinctive VA nose and flavor - perhaps French oak - smoky. Calmed down second night. Tannins are mild. Ruddy and cloudy color, like an unfiltered Tawny Port. Nice mouthfeel. Will improve and mellow with age. Clear Barbera flavor, but there the comparison ends with a Barboursville 2019 Barbera we opened the second night. Wouldn't pick one over the other, they are just not easily comparable - liked each one for what it delivered. Have one more and look forward to tasting it against a Granite Heights 2019 Barbera and another BBV.
