June 30, 2022 - First red of the tasting but second BG d’Alba of the day. Dark red and black fruit, low acid, lite plus/medium - tannins, good concentration, plum- ok so here are my two cents. Serve this chilled and why the hell would anyone choose a crappy rose (good rose sure I kind of get, kind of…) but this is perfect for summer if opting out of a white. Juicy fruity goodness with tannins to add further complexity. Each time I try a great d’Alba my mind goes directly to BBQ. Is there better $20-$40 wines with this amount or steamer or party favor flair and panache, maybe but a rock solid consistent performer at the $30 average price. Will never be my favorite wine category because I am an idiot wine snob through and through but if I wasn’t- or better stated “I told you I don’t always drink badass mind blowing wine but when I don’t, I would drink d’Alba”. That’s just my two cents which you can take to the bank for $37. -MIMITW
