  • Christopheroz Likes this wine:

August 28, 2022 - Still a rich red colour. Fruit is cigar box and gentle berry. Nicely integrated. A very fine wind

August 8, 2018 - 13%. Color not faded, medium red, noticeable sediment in bottle. Lifted red berry fruit, fully integrated tannins, some secondary character. At 18 years, this bottle has held up well. Peak drinking. Very nice.

June 4, 2018 - It seems this is past peak and starting the downhill slide, although it was still really good. The tart dark cherry I've always associated with this wine was present, but the tobacco and leather have taken center stage. There's still ample acidity and nice spice. Drink up if you have anymore! This was our last bottle, and I'd say we timed the consumption perfectly, with no desire to backfill this vintage as we have several more recent years in the cellar.

November 21, 2016 - Surprisingly there was a teaspoon+ of fine sediment. Tart dark cherry with a hint of tobacco and leather on the nose. A little less acidic than the last bottle, with the spice still showing light pepper plus a cinnamon element emerged after decanting. This is showing a bit better than in February, and I can't see it getting any better as it's fully resolved. 2 more bottles left before we look to our '04 and '07 Italians.

February 21, 2016 - Nice tart cherry with tobacco on the nose. Tart cherry with peppery spice on the palate. Surprising amount of tannin and acidity for a 16 year old Chianti which makes me believe it still has a few more years left. Glad I have 3 more bottles.
