March 13, 2024 - Really youthful and primary out of the gate - almost like a barrel sample. Fleshed out a little with a few hours in the decanter, but still very purple, fruity, and young. Not sure how/when this will round out and gain more depth and complexity. Good, and hoping it gets better.

July 24, 2022 - Tasted at K Laz in Yountville.

Deep ruby. Aromatic with oak land grape stem. Dry, full body, crisp acidity, medium tannins, and fair balance. Flavors of black cherry, green pepper, and hard candy.

April 16, 2022 - Drank alongside 2017 Vice Versa, 2017 Bevan Vixen and a 2016 Paragon. While all of the wines were quite good, the VHR stood out due to the purity of the fruit. Such a fresh profile, not dominated by heavy fruit but rather a lighter and more refined style. Actually reminded me of a recent 2016 Palmer, with smooth tannins and unbelievable purity. Definitely the WOTN as we paired it with grilled tenderloin. So glad that I was able to obtain several bottles as this will be such a fun wine to track over the coming years as I would expect the wine to improve by a point or two.

    February 28, 2022 - Guys trip Telluride 2022.

I feel pretty fortunate to keep tasting this bottle every few months since bottling. It's fattened up and shed some of the acid in the short course of a few months. Tasted side by side once with the OVR, Vine Hill adds a nice dark fruit cassis and a spine of minerality that is beloved by this sites followers. A wine that will benefit from a few more years of bottle aging and even then will most likely be too young for my palate. A very cellar worth bottle that I'm looking forward to following over the next few decades. God willing.

    February 11, 2022 - TXRDW/Deandrew8649 with DJ w/Keplinger in Houston.

With a fresh new label in place I was fortunate to try this wine for a second time alongside the OVR bottling.

Amazing how much this wine has change since my last time in Oct. Classically structured and yet still approachable this wine is beautiful at PNP. Acid is starting to settle and the fruit is starting to fill out. I commented to DJ that this is a beautiful wine, I just wish I had a time machine. This is going to be a wine of patience. In my opinion this will easily take a better part of a decade or two to peak like that of the Francoise VHR.

Another fun takeaway from dinner was the distinct difference from the Oakville Ranch(Vaca/Soils) & Vine Hill (Mayacamas/Soils). Definitely a bit more sweetness on the OVR and savory notes on the VHR.

Paired with Lamb, Ribeye & Scallops. Delish!
