Community Tasting Notes 10

June 3, 2013 - Translucent but no longer ruby in color. Showing some age and becoming more cola colored. Roses, cherries dried fruit and anise on nose. The palate is delicate and the fruit darkening with age, showing dried black cherries and cranberries with prune and prominent anise. The tannin is well integrated and the dark fruit is lifted by ample acidity. Lovely wine - for lovers of this style but for others the licorice notes will always be an impediment. Enjoyed with grilled salmon, against which it held up very well.

January 17, 2012 - Dark color, little nose but initial taste revealed a sweetness, fruit staying long. Very light. Fruit is berry like. Some tannins are still present. Excellent and can be kept.

October 18, 2010 - Translucent red in the glass. Lovely, fresh nose of ripe red fruit, anise, mint and eucalyptus. Coherent palate with balanced tannins. Excellent.

October 14, 2010 - Opaque blackish purple. NO lighening at the rim. On the nose classic tar and rioses but with an additional floral lift - violets. Good acidity but no sharpness. The first impression is the sheer freshness of this wine, really refreshing and lifted. Black morello cherries, ripe damsuns, prunes and tar. The tannins are still pronouced but fine and dry. A longish finish and all round and excellent wine, particularly given the modest price involved.

April 15, 2010 - crimson, slightly opaque and with very little sign of maturity. The nose of cherry and black fruits, not huge but quite evident. On the palate, red fruits to the fore, some earthy gamey notes, a touch of liquorish and freashness that belies its age. Moderate acidity and tannins and all in all a pleasant, balanced wine. The finish not especially long but domonated by fruit rather than acidity or tannin which was a pleasant surprise. A perfectly servicable if not outstanding wine.
