Community Tasting Notes 5

November 14, 2023 - $85. Deep color, clear, nice deep nose, palate of petit verdot, as well as long evolving aftertaste. Nicely balanced. No trace of sulfer. Nice wine, but a bit too expensive as prices have come down for lack of demand in a down economy. They have 30% sales now, which brings the price closer to the competition and reality. If it's expensive doing business in Napa, then all need to push back, including real-estate prices, which are ridiculous for farmland.

October 30, 2023 - It is definitely approachable now but the oak is very prominent. It will need a few more years to integrate and improve overall.

June 14, 2023 - More approachable early than some of their other vintages, but consistent with other 2019s. Big, rich, complex.

May 31, 2023 - I requested to taste this during a recent visit, which simply means it received only a short decant. This blend has become more cab franc dominant in recent years, and mostly cab franc and merlot. This is one of the most approachable versions in the past decade and is already very expressive. Has a great floral bouquet of white flowers, roses, and wild fennel intermixed with blueberries and black raspberries. On the palate, it is again a mix of blue and black fruits, soft, rich, with a medium mouthfeel and silky tannins. I picked up notes of anise on the finish. Well done.

February 10, 2023 - Great smell and taste right from the bottle. Right up there with the good reds from the area, although about $20 higher in price. Will make this a "keeper". 👍👍
