July 14, 2023 - This is a bottle I brought back after my visit to Barolo last year. I just opened it to decant for a few hours before a ribeye dinner tonight. I remember this being elegant, but still structured.

I poured a little before decanting (as I always do) and I don’t think I’ll decant this.

So aromatic and pretty right now, not nearly as structured as I remember (in a good way). Tannins brush off quickly.

After some air the tannin did come alive a bit more. Lots of cherry, some rose, violet, tobacco leaf or balsamic/tomato leaf. Still great value (I paid $31 buying from them). Most of the 18s I’ve had are pretty drinkable now and this is no different.

January 13, 2023 - I wish this was schrodinger’s barolo because I want to hold it and drink it at the same time. Insanely good value and the epitome of what 2018 is about. Approachable, ethereal, typical and yet atypical because of that old school cool weather vintage amoratic and understated class. If only everyone could start their Nebbiolo journey here.

December 3, 2022 - I have been looking for a Barolo that is more approachable and translucent in style and this is it! This wine is in the style of Mugnier from burgundy, yet of course carrying all the aromatics from Barolo. This wine is transparent, with a very open and inviting nose of cranberries, tea, bright cherries, some menthol and strawberry cream, in the mouth it is silky (by barolo standards) and very light on its feet with a crunchy, cherry fruit with rosehip tang, It is inviting and the opposite of austere. I absolutely love it. Lucky to have 3 more left. They will all be gone in the coming year or so, this to me is not worth cellaring and it doesn't feel built that way. There is no massive wall of tannins, but you still get all flavours of a barolo. Just perfect. I wish more producers would adhere to this lighter style. Honestly, there is plenty of demand for this style I would think.

April 4, 2022 - Barolo Trip; 4/3/2022-4/7/2022 (Barolo): Fifth wine tasted at Guido Porro. No formal notes.

This was good. I took a bottle home. Red fruited, great structure, balsamic and spicy notes.
