July 28, 2016 - And then you open a bottle like this!
Excellent. Beautiful mouthfeel of aged Bdx fruits. Med bodied goodness. Not jammy in the slightest. Drink now or hold for a few more years.

January 15, 2014 - Have been gradually working my way through a dozen...not very approachable in its early years but turned into a classic Bordeaux style blend. Just drank the last one - over the peak now but a really enjoyable wine.

January 11, 2014 - Going along pretty well but you have to like aged wines to get into this one. Definite signs of age on the rim and body but not insipidly so. Lovely Oz Bdx nose and on the palate, balanced apart from he acid. Drink a year or two ago to gain more body and better acid. Nice and drinkable but not great.

June 12, 2010 - Following the dissapointment that was the 1998 Bowen Cabernet Sauvignon, I held little expectation of this being drinkable, so as such, the wine far exceded expectations. Extremely soft structure, lacking acid and tannins. About five years too late I'd suggest; but still holding on with sweet, confected fruit characters. Aged merlot notes evident on nose, with sweet decomposing red berries (balsamic soaked strawberries anyone?), lots of menthol and some nice fruit cake spices, combining with aged characters like an old leather briefcase that hasn't been opened for a year. The taste is not as exciting as the nose, and is carried by a residual sugar character? 8g/l? Maybe some hope for the second and last bottle of the straight cab '98? Bottle variation has been noted by other tasters...

April 17, 2010 - Developed red colour. Leafy, menthol, raspberry, cedar. Medium bodied, red fruited simple cab blend. At its peak. Nice.
