Community Tasting Notes 8

May 20, 2024 - Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Syrah, Trincadeira, Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Franca from 20 years old vines in average. Destemmed, fermented in stainless steel tanks, aged 12 months in American (60%) and French (40%) oak barrels. Total acidity 6.49 g/l, residual sugar 2.8 g/l, 14% vol.

Decanted for two hours and poured it back into the bottle 2 hours before dinner. On the nose dark berries, cherries and shy notes from the oak, on the palate quite tannic and tart (even after this long airing) a bit spicy and the finish is rather long. For my palate still too young but it already goes with hefty food, for my next bottle I will wait a couple of years.

April 12, 2024 - Great QPR, super balanced and really interesting.

December 5, 2023 - Deep ruby in the glass with a slight pink rim. Medium extraction.

Aromas are intense, with ripe raspberry, black plum and blackberry. Fresh rose petals and turned soil, as well as some bergamot.

Flavors show oak influence, with cedar and chocolate following alongside the black and red plum, and follow the nose for the most part.

Mouthfeel is dry, full bodied, with medium plus tannin and medium plus acidity. Round and smooth.

December 2, 2023 - Deep ruby colour with a sweet, vanilla red fruit. The palate is soft with red cherry and redcurrant fruits with some oak spice on the peppery finish. Nice balance, good wine but nothing to be excited by.
