April 5, 2013 - Of all the vintages in the 90s, '97 to me is consistently the winner across all producers. These wines continue to show staying power and depth. This example with signed bottle by Wayne Hogue opened a dark solid red throughout - slight amount of sediment. Expressive boquet of black cherry, cigar box, dust, pencil shaving and ripe strawberry. Plenty of acidity and smoothing tannin to keep this running for a few more years, even slightly tart and acidic today. Full bodied - mid-palate and finish holding well, showing dark and red fruit, sweet currant and puckering length. 30+ second finish. Very nice.

January 20, 2011 - Nice and earthy...took 90 minutes to really open up. Won't last much longer.

February 6, 2009 - Subtle fragrances for the nose of plum, currant, and licorice including hints of cinnamon and lead pencil. Medium bodied with a fair amount of soft tannic structure remaining. Decent balance of spice to dry dark fruits, with the fruit flavors developing a richer character over thirty minutes in the glass. Close to perfect, velvety smooth medium length finish. Paired with grilled tenderloin tips, mashed potatoes and baby green beans. Celebrating a personal milestone achieved tonight.

January 4, 2007 - Very nice nose, dark color with earthy tones. Still a great deal of life left in this.
