  November 20, 2023 - From magnum. I hate to say it, but this was too young. And this is coming from someone who isn’t necessarily a dirt worshiper or lover of cobwebby red wines. This was tight and tannic at first, with “primary?” red fruit dominating the profile. Sure, there were some stone, earth, dust, and cedar notes, but the fruit was still pretty locked up. It’s like I should leave it alone for another ten years. The overall profile will always be old school Napa (no surprise with Dunn), but this is not only built to last, but it’s build to outlast… maybe me! A .750 might be a different story, but this mag will be good and ready once Nevada gets a coastline.

  June 11, 2017 - There is still life left in this thirty-five year old Napa Cab, a testament to the age-ability of Dunn Cabs. While past its prime, there is still vibrancy and life left in this vintage. Showing its age with a slight rust bricking on the rim, there is still balance and complex structure in this, still holding together.
  
  Dark garnet colored with slight brown rust color starting to set in, medium bodied, black berry and black cherry fruits are accented by notes of tobacco, leather, dried herbs and hints of oak turning to a long lingering finish.

  November 27, 2016 - Medium-deep, dark garnet in color with some clearing at the edges (no bricking at all). Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, tobacco, leather, dried herbs, mint/anise, savory spices, minerals & a hint of vanilla & toasty oak. Full bodied with very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, intense, complex & lush, ripe fruit flavors of dark sweet cherries, blackberries & black plums with herbs, spices, minerals, earthy & a touch of vanilla & toasty oak. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present & appears to have the fruit & structure to continue its development with additional aging. A nicely aged yet massive & lush Napa Cab still going quite strong at 34 years of age with at least another 6 to 8 years ahead of it. Clean & intact cork with an excellent fill.

  February 19, 2012 - Traded Carrie Bowman of Napa Wine and Cigar for this. What a nice lady. Drank at Carpe Diem after one too many glasses of wine. Pop and straight into the decanter. Clearly a well made wine that has aged well. Earth, mushroom, leather, on the nose. The palate is fully resolved but thinning at this point. Some faint hints of fruit left. Would like to compare this against the Howell Mountain bottling.

  July 30, 2011 - WineSpectator Forums Offline; 7/29/2011-7/30/2011 (Piperade, San Francisco): Old-world style, hint barnyard; structured but approachable, aged but still has fruit and tannin. Very interesting wine and may even have a little way to go.
