August 27, 2023 - Blind tasting (FermentedBeast's Lair): Nose of ripe and round dark plums, with some forest floor.

On the palate are dark rich fruits, deep earth and a nice spiced note, almost like cinnamon. With time, the fruits remain but a bit of artificial characteristics seem to surface.

This ranked somewhere near middle to top but eventually ranked last.

May 11, 2023 - Tasted last night at Lucio’s BYOB along with a 2019 Maybach Materium. Very big & bold wine, definitely falls under the category of a Napa fruit bomb. PnP, which did not do the wine any favors as the La Bam seemed overly sweet early on, but improving quite a bit by the one hour mark. If I were to drink again I would definitely decant for 1-2 hours. 92 might be a bit on the low side considering the absence of decanting and that it was preceding the Materium.

April 8, 2023 - This wine is very much as described in my previous notes however, it has gained notable traction and may have a bit of an edge over the Las Verdad? Either way, this energetic and nicely crafted Cab is open for business. 97/ 97+ points and very impressive. Enjoy.

    94 points Jeb Dunnuck??? 🤔😟🍷🍇😋

March 25, 2023 - Celebrating age (FermentedBeast's Lair): Aromas of dark red fruits, dark powdered graphite, dark green stems, and gently spiced bark.

On the palate was ripe dark red and black fruits, black minerals coated with fruit, fruited black earth, and more fruit.

Awesome if you love tons of fruit, as this seemed to really showcase that. I wish it had a bit more complexity but that might come with time. If lots of fruits give you pleasure, this will be your jam - no pun intended. 94 for now and hoping this gains some complexity and depth with time.

November 21, 2022 - Tasting at Carter in Calistoga -- our host did a great job and generously presented much of the lineup. No sign of smoke taint in any of the wines. I found most of the wines here to be overtly sweet, fruit dominated and remarkably similar. They are dense pleasure-bombs but lacking in site characteristics or complexity (seem over-worked). Maybe this will come in time. Evidently Mike Smith started these wines but Bevan "finished" them. Like La Verdad, La Bam is fun but not up to prior vintages.
