December 1, 2023 - Deep purple in color, smoky, savory herbal aromas with hints of tarragon and toasted bread. On the palate, flavors of black fruit, dried cherries and elegance of fig, mineral quality develops mid-palate, well-structured with tannins that grip. Allow some breathing time.

October 25, 2023 - A bold new flagship. Smells oddly like wood and smoked fish. Yet for some reason that also intrigues me. That was the first smell. Second smell that goes away. Cassis, pencil shavings, mocha. There in the mid, a little lifted on the palate, finishes like a Napa Cab should. Way over at $250 but heck, I didn't pay for the sample.

August 13, 2023 - Took this over to a dinner at Mark1NPTs house. Got this at deep discount from local vendor. Very well-made wine. 2 hour decant prior to dinner. Markedly smooth and refined. Medium weight. Typical Napa color though it seems more polished in appearance than most. Restrained nose and dark cherry fruit which faded after decanting. Some sage was noted by tasters. Seemed to improve with time which bodes well for the future.

93 now with 2+ points improvement likely IMO HMC

August 12, 2023 - Previous note here on this one from the #1 CT taster, was kind of useless. Eight words about the wine and no score? Wtf? Brought to the table by HMC tonight. Decanted 2 hours. He said lots better nose at the open. Kind of muted at two hours. Sweet violets if you didn't swirl but sage and dandelion early on if you did. Dark purple in the glass. Palate of iron pan to start. I got malbec and cab franc elements initially. Over 4+ hours this one improved immensely. It needs air at this stage. The purity of winemaking is on display here. It improves in complexity and depth with time open to air. Great cab elements emerge on both the nose and palate over time and take charge. If you just pop these as some do and give impressions quickly on the fly, you will get it wrong, every time.

December 7, 2022 - Can't sell a $200 Napa Cab at 94 points! Black fruited and very Stag's Leap District, core of black fruit, power and tannin. Lots of structure, good stuff.
