  December 26, 2017 - Good amount of volatile acidity on the nose, calms down after a bit but still present. The palate is very rich, full-bodied with smooth tannins, notes of prune, raisin, tar, chocolate, spice, tobacco, earthy, mushroom, dirt, ash, smoke, char, fig, dates, strawberry jam.
  Really complex, really nice. Fantastic to see an Alentejo wine listed at just 13.5% alcohol. At 16 years old I think this is about at its peak, I might have preferred a bit more fruit but it is beautiful right now.
  
  I know nothing about this producer and bought this bottle from a small wine shop in Alto Alentejo because they had this vintage at about 30 euros cheaper than a local shop (thought it was a different vintage - I think 2007 or 08) Not really the most logical and thought out purchase but I have no regrets.

  November 18, 2016 - Even though we drank past preferred drink dates. Wine was still good. Earthy but with van edge. Sharp finish.

  January 3, 2011 - Still fairly dark in the core but opening to a clear ruby in the rim. Evolved nose of red fruits (no longer dark), leather and some moisty notes together with a more animal side - not intrusive. Full bodied though maintaining a sense of elegance. The fruit is still in command supported by an iron note and more defined earthy/peppery tone. Tannins are resolved but there's acidity transporting the wine into a medium to long finish. Still full of life and in a great drinking phase.
