April 15, 2020 - Fill to bottom of neck. Cork removed with Ah-So about an hour before, then decanted. Huge deposit of sediment on the side of the bottle where this has rested since purchase from Kermit Lynch in the late 80s. Medium red with some browning, lovely sweet fruit and completely resolved tannins. Not at all past its prime though getting to age 40 might be a challenge. Not quite as good as an 82 drunk last year, but surprisingly interesting nevertheless.

July 7, 2014 - A lovely, intellectual wine. At first there's a blast of gorgeous sweet strawberry fruit, but that lasts for only about 30 seconds. After that the fruit drops into the background and the wine shows strong aromas of bonfire smoke and roasted herbs and earth. Very much tertiary, tannins fully resolved, acidity starting to poke out, this is past prime but doesn't fail to hold my interest through the end of the bottle.

July 4, 2014 - Very cloudy. Light-to-medium weight. Past peak and not really delicious, but a very complex and intriguing wine. The dominant note is barbecue smoke, but it's complemented by hints of strawberry, citrus, herbs, and earth. The palate doesn't have much left after the attack but acid, and is quite sour. Food for thought.

(Domaine Tempier Bandol Cuvée Spéciale La Migoua) Group's #3 (my #2) – 76 pts.; 5, 3, 2, 0 - bricked, medium brown red color with pale meniscus; nose like a very mature Zin, dried berry, charcoal, bright berry, raisin, cinnamon, lifted nose; better on palate, mature, charcoal, dried berry palate with some oxidation and firm tannins; medium-plus finish (did not show at all as well as a bottle I had five years ago)
