July 14, 2023 - Poured through aerating spout. Deep dark vibrant ruby magenta color. Blueberry, baker’s chocolate, oregano, plum, vanilla meringue, verbena, and anise. Smooth, dry, medium+ bodied palate, with satiny acidity. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish. 68% Merlot, 30% CS, 2% PV
This will keep improving with more age and it’s already great. Melka is the winemaker.
Enjoyed this at a wine dinner in College Station, TX of all places. Aaron Michaelis (owner of Flint Knoll Winery in Napa) hosted us at Porter’s, along with Hunter Ham (sommelier), who just got his pic in the latest issue of Wine Spectator. -

February 6, 2023 - 2023 Napa; 2/5/2023-2/9/2023 (Napa with a connection in Houston): 2.5 hr decant. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, around 75/25 blend from Shifflett and Keenan. Delicious, the Cabernet Sauvignon softens the edges on the young Merlot. Will age well and likely be ready for prime time in 3-5 years.

October 15, 2022 - Double decant, followed by two hour slow ox. Deep dark magenta color. Blueberry, melted butter, stemmy florals, and subtle graham cracker on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with nice, slightly mouth puckering acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
There’s some potential in my score. This needs a year or two to settle down. It’s going to be terrific. Mostly Merlot, with a little CS and PV.1 person found this helpful Comments (3) -

June 4, 2022 - Six hour slow ox. Very deep dark electric magenta color. Black cherry cream cheese, violet, blackberry, and chocolate covered pear on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with satiny, fine-grained acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. 65% Merlot, 30% CS, 5% PV
This kept improving during an hour of tasting (sitting in the glass). One more year in the cellar and a one or two hour decant will have this baby singing. I bought a number of bottles. You cannot do much better at this price point for this type of blend.
