January 22, 2014 - WineCentric's 50+ Years Old Burgundies @ UC Davis (Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Sciences): Dark Red/brown color. Fabulous refined nose with mushrooms and soft spices (A). Soft palate that started to degrade significantly after 15-20 minutes in the glass (B++).

May 3, 2009 - "1962 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux (Frankrijk, Bourgogne, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru) Kleur: Opvallend vitaal rood, iets amberkleurig Aroma / bouquet: Verbazingwekkend levendig en expressief. Vanaf het eerste voorzichtige snufje een duidelijk Pinot Noir karakter waarin zelfs het primaire (bosaardbeitjes-) fruit goed waarneembaar is. Tertiaire tonen als cederhout, truffel, bospaddestoeltjes en vooral de overrijpe bosaardbei. Bedwelmend!!!
Na 30 minuten ook: rozenbottel.
Na 45 minuten: mokka, bittere chocola.
Na 1,5 uur: Nog steeds een indrukwekkende complexiteit met inmiddels ook leer en teer-tonen. Smaak / Afdronk: Rond en vol, deze wijn staat nog helemaal overeind. Prachtige ontwikkelde boterzachte zuren en heerlijk ronde tannines. Super-zacht maar nog steeds zorgend voor ruggengraat en structuur. Algemeen / potentieel: Een wijn uit een prachtig mensenjaar ;-) maar uit een niet meer dan matig wijnjaar. Boerse finesse. De karaktertrekken van deze wijn ontwikkelen zich in de twee uren dat we ervan genoten, maar op geen enkel moment maakte de wijn een vermoeide laat staan 'stervende' indruk.
De meest indrukwekkende wijn die ik ooit in mijn glas heb gehad. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Smaak / Afdronk: 20 + Algemeen / potentieel: 10 = 99/100"
