Community Tasting Notes 3

March 5, 2014 - Decanted for an hour. Classic French. Dark chocolate, sour cherries, cola, and strong herbal overtones. Tried it again the second night and the herbaceousness has been replaced by tart black licorice. Not too bad, but still not enough to convincer that the French can create something with a solid QPR.

December 3, 2013 - Heavy, but not overbearing, notes of black licorice and cola. Showing medium+ complexity. Decanted for about an hour. Needs to be filtered for sediment, though that is to be expected. Overall, very good. Solid wine for the price.

October 25, 2009 - Smoke and very dark ripe plums on the nose. So incredibly inviting. I love the 2004 vintage – fresh, grapes just mature enough to soften the tannins, but not so much to make the wine overly powerful in the fruit department. The resulting complexity is a testament to that peculiar mix of elegance and power that I associate with Saint-Emilion – succulent dark fruit, a hint of bitter chocolate, rosemary, graphite and finishes with a touch of spice. Very good and will get better. Drink now-2014. Food pairing: Duck.
