January 6, 2024 - Have had this many times over the past 5 years, and I wish the path it’s on was more exciting. Still enjoyable to drink, but it used to be bursting with energy, and I looked forward to secondary development adding the cherry on top. But it’s softening more than I hoped, and it’s nice instead of special

October 2, 2023 - Softening as it matures, still deliciously rich for a Pommard, with some classic cranberry notes alongside cherry and gamey flavors. losing some of its youthful vigor, which I confess I wish it was retaining. Enjoyable drinking

February 26, 2023 - Decanted at most an hour. Deep, clear, and dark ruby with a tiny watery rim. On the nose there is a whole review of all the desirable aromas of red burgundy from this end of the Côte. The main impression is of fresh, suitably intense and ample fruit. Every time I return to it for a sip or a sniff, there's a new element there in the mix. Complex and evolving, but not going anywhere but up. I was surprised, I must admit, that a Pommard from this address - more known for austere wines that "never" come around - could have such delicious fruit. The last time I drank one of their wines, a 1995 Volnay Tallepieds, it was mistaken for a youngish Barolo. No danger of that with this one: It just delightful. (Please note that I try to adhere to the letter of the 100-point scale, so that this wine is in the "outstanding" range. I hardly ever go this high.)

February 25, 2023 - Fruity, earthy and quite complex PN aromas with some wet wool notes. Sweet-and-sour, mature and elegant on the palate, especially for a Montille, but in line with the vintage. Still some Pommard rusticity, though. Should keep for many years still.

December 22, 2022 - After a pair of corked old school Cali Cabernets, De Montille saved the day. Plummy spice, African violets and just enough animale funk. Still some structure, but what a bottle. Courtesy of JF.
