February 26, 2024 - Reports of this wine's demise are greatly exaggerated. This was drinking perfectly well, in a nice seemingly late teenage spot despite it being 26+ years old. Great with dry aged steak.

May 11, 2022 - A fantastic wine. The bouquet evokes black raspberries, mocha, and Tootsie Roll candies in a verdant forest full of conifers and eucalyptus. Beautifully structured, expressive, and focused, with lovely umami character and bottle-age complexity. Excellent length on the spicy finish. It's in a beautiful place but sad this was my last bottle.

September 11, 2021 - This is squarely phasing out of its secondary days and fading down to the tertiary. Shows a good deal of wood on the nose. Nice classic cedary cassis thing. Some tannin still. Balanced in terms of acid. The fruit has faded quite a bit. But its $15 at Grocery Outlet. So if you want to see how older Cabs fade on the cheap this is a good option. Its not completely dead but its likely to leave many wanting. But still....$15. I just wonder why they sat on all this all this time.

March 1, 2021 - Tasted blind. Dark fruit, spices, black pepper, and a hint of green bell pepper that integrated with air. Lots of fruit with a good amount of tannins, some cedar notes, and black berries on the palate. Nice finish. Great example of not too ripe, well aged CA fruit.
