February 17, 2024 - Having a weird run of flawed bottles. And I'm a Pepe fanboy. 16, 18, 19 Trebbianos have been oxidized (beyond appropriate), or funky, or both. Just a bad run lately.

January 29, 2024 - Very enjoyable, though this was after it had been opened > 45 minutes; before that, I'd say 'good'. Med>med+ body, bright. Textbook soil and marine aromas e.g. seashell, Mediterranean herbs, an admixture of white and yellow fruits and a perfumed spice component I just adore. Plenty of cool acidity and good+ focus. Packed with complexity; seems like more is in reserve. If I had to guess, and while it's enjoyable now, I'm thinking another few years of rest will bring this closer to its full potential. # 01696, 13,0% abv. For its full potential, it's highly recommended

October 29, 2022 - Emidio Pepe Agriturismo Visit and Aurora Vertical Tasting; 10/29/2022-10/30/2022 (Emidio Pepe Winery): At the winery, by the glass overlooking the vines after the drive over/under the mountains from Rome. Very enjoyable glass, more fruit than I was expecting and a long finish. Quite golden in color, some oxidative notes, freshness and golden fruit. Sure this has a long way to go, but very pleasant now.

June 16, 2022 - Winery visit with Elisa de Iulis Pepe.
Medium intensity, straw color with golden reflections.

Right upon opening the wine shows ripe yellow fruit, peach, fennel seed and smoky flint. As it sits in the glass it develops some dried fruit character, honeysuckle and spice.

On the palate the wine is rich and flavoursome. Medium bodied with high acidity and some texture. Great intensity and a long finish.

Already showing fantastic but could of course age for lots of years to come. Elisa told me that 2019 was the best vintage for Trebbiano in years since it was a bit cooler than the average vintage nowadays. Compared to, the few, previous vintages I've had of this wine this was much "cleaner" and more fruit-driven but still with the Pepe-style intact.
