August 8, 2023 - One of my favorite Napa wines. Raspberry, sweet herbs, red pepper flakes.

April 14, 2023 - Savory herbs and spices with strong fruit over the top. Pleasant rustic feel overall, but came across as slightly grape juicy for my preferences. Perhaps will improve with time.

January 31, 2023 - Pretty ruby color. Dark fruit on the nose with some sort of an acrid hint. Fairly mellow opening. Mixed fruits—blackberry, red cherry, stone fruit—but very subdued. Under the rear palate I get that acrid thing suggesting, as much as anything, olives. Not terribly full-bodied—I guess the ABV broadcasts that. A nice level of acid tartness—it had to kind of sneak up on me. Noticeable, but not in-your-face tannin. Some years of sideways rest would lead to development that would be rewarding.

    11.5% ABV

    Color: medium purple colour
Nose: medium+ aroma, black fruit (currant, plum), red fruit (red cherry), herbaceous (mint/clove), spice (black pepper)
Palate: dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ tannin, medium- body, high intensity, medium finish
Conclusion: balance, medium intensity, Good (suitable for aging to round out the tannin?)

November 5, 2022 - Arnot-Roberts fall 2022 open house (Healdsburg): another face to Cab Franc… dark and opaque in the glass, the nose has no funkiness but a lovely mix of red and dark fruit with fair amounts of spice, herbal condiments, and whiffs of tobacco, lavender and cedar shavings. quite tight in the mouth still, but most of the nose parades thru the palate as allowed by the at the moment drying tannic core. this will take quite some time to integrate, but there's a lot of promise there…

while not yet readily accessible, the wine has a feeling of natural immediacy that gives it a rustic elegance of sorts… it harkens to some slightly rough Loire samples of the varietal while having a polish that time is certain to bring out. for me, the sleeper wine of the release.

11.5% AbV; 7 barrels produced; 100% whole cluster pressed; neutral oak ageing.
