June 26, 2023 - This is my 1500th tasting note on CT and I opted for a rather unusual wine.
Timox stands for the grape Timorasso and oxidation. Timorasso is an autochthonous grape variety from Northern Italy and used to be very common before phylloxera occurred.
I Carpini owns 3.5 ha of Timorasso, only some of it is being used for the orange Timox production. Timox undergoes long maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation, and 12 months amphore maturation.
Orange colour, herbs and honey nose. Comlex palate with tannins, dried fruits, honey, salty herbs, and a long finish. Definitely no crowd pleaser wine but I liked it a lot! -
