July 23, 2023 - Started with 60 min decant and followed over several hrs. Black and inky, reminded me of Bevan levels of extraction. Not giving much early, nose is an equal mix of fruit, floral and earth, palate is dark/purplish candied fruit. If had had to guess, I would say Western Napa Benchlands south of Calistoga, north of Oak Knoll given the structure and tannic profile. No sign of smoke taint. Killer deal at $4 bottle after heavy discounts. Try again in 2027 earliest. I’m betting this is 94-95 max with age, we’ll see in a few more years.
