Community Tasting Notes 5

December 6, 2008 - Very light and not a lot of flavors going on, but not offensive either.

November 6, 2008 - nose: funky nose, but not in a real interesting way along with simple tones of blackfruits, anise and some black licorice

taste: simple and thin with some mushroom flavors, barnyard, and black fruits

overall: not much to this and very little to get excited about. Just a very simple wine that brings some decent grenache and mouvedere based flavors, but one can buy a lower end CdR for the same amount of money and get a much better wine

May 16, 2008 - Not super dark burgundy color. Very pretty color. A little oak and alcohol on the nose and nothing else. On the palate, there is some more oak and alcohol on the mid-palate with some green olives. More fruit than I expect on a French wine, but that's relative. Short finish. Pass on this.

January 25, 2008 - Not as good as the 2005. Lighter ruby color. Similar nose and taste of sour cherries and crushed cigar but much less intense. Short finish with tannins and some acid. Not well balanced, althought this did improve after breathing about an hour. It is still pretty good for less than $7. But I'm glad I stocked up on the '05.

September 8, 2007 - Dirty and gamey on the nose. Olives and more olives on the palate with a touch of oregano. Ok with food for a fan of dirty martinis.
