May 3, 2019 - Mid to full ruby. Nicely gamey dark red fruit with a floral and also a slightly animale topnote. Good acidity. Lovely. ***1/2

January 28, 2018 - I missed this the night before but luckily Z had the leftovers. Classic nose: sweet and savory: spice at first then sharp dark cherry and small berries, smoky meaty - bacon, some blueberry. The palate is medium-bodied with good flavor a touch soft at points, smoky meat. Less fruit here. Into the finish you get the saline snap along w the funk & smoked meat. Lots of smoke at the end. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 4.5-5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-17/20.

January 27, 2018 - Alt Rieslingfeier (New York City, NY): Huh. Totally didn't remember that I had tasted this wine before, although I knew that Barge makes some serious syrah. The nose shows classic syrah elements, though nothing seems to pop out too loudly. There is a moderate amount of olive brine, of meat juice, of black pepper. The palate is lithe thanks to the acidic cut, but has many of the same elements of the nose. This is drinking excellently right now.

November 28, 2017 - Cote Rotie (Harwood Arms, London): Fragrantly floral. More violet density here than the CR alongside. A slight dustiness too. Fuller and reasonably plush though this lightens to a more typical red-fruited freshness. ***1/2

August 27, 2017 - Another strong showing for this wine; Classic Northern Rhone aromatics jump out of the glass -- pepper, olive brine and earthy tones; The palate has plenty of plush fruit to balance out the savoriness, with a nice thread of acidity on the finish; These are likely at peak right now

(Domaine Gilles Barge Cote Rotie Cuvee du Plessy) #3; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-brownish and quite cloudy; NOSE-significant barnyard manure; black pepper; green pepper; very herbaceous and earthy; quite smoky as well; PALATE-this wine is struggling to show; quite disjointed; starting to get muddy and cloudy; 95% would not like; GV-76
