August 22, 2021 - Very dark, almost black, with browning at the rim. A lot of chocolate and smoked meatiness on the nose. Heavy bodied, tannin smooth and integrated. Black plums, dark red berries on the palate. Finish lengthens with 2+ hour decant. Very rich style that I like in small quantities. Drinking well now, but unlikely to get any better.

January 10, 2021 - Black red. Immediate complex aroma - violets, tar, vague hint of menthol, smoked bacon, scorched earth, black fruit almost like cooking blackberry and apple crumble. Then the same blackberry flavour, meaty with soft tannins and perfectly balanced acidity. Dry blackberry jelly. Very fine indeed.

    January 10, 2021 - Lovely stuff.

Nearing 20 years old with lots of time ahead.

Quite different from the wine I first tasted in 2005.

Fruit packed, fully resolved tannins, smooth on the palate with just enough acidity to enhance the overall experience.

Great value for money if you can find a well stored bottle or two.

Another example of how wonderful and long lived Barossa Shiraz can be.

Perhaps not as complicated a wine as some would like but there is no doubting the exuberance on the nose & in the mouth.

April 15, 2020 - Peak drinking now. Black currant in abundance, long, tannins have completely mellowed, nice body and little bit of acidity carry the palate. Lovely Shiraz, especially at that price point and 18 years of bottle age!!

April 15, 2019 - Drank from a half bottle. Started with a small tainted smell of wet cardboard that limited how good the wine tasted without dominating the taste. Resiped over the next two days to see whether the off putting part would subside, which it did sufficiently for us to finish the wine. Opaque purple. Aromatic raspberry and smoked meat. Finely structured by acid and tannin, with additional blackberry and blueberry. Probably best drunk up in the next 3 years.
