October 4, 2017 - 51% Grenache, 17.5% Syrah, 17.5% Mouvrèdre, 7% Carignan, 7% Counoise. 6 ha of 50+ yr old vines. Hand harvested, de-stemmed, 2-3 week vinification in cement cuvee, aged in cement and stainless steel tanks, bottle unfiltered, unfined. 14%Abv.

A(ccuracy)=2: Deep garnet with brick rim. Intense ripe mature GSM.
B(alance) =2: Fruit and tannin well resolved, alcohol a bit hot.
C(omplexity)=1: Simple red berry preserve, fading hint of tobacco, mocha, spice.
    D(epth) = 2 : Impressive concentration and focus.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,1,2]=7/10

Contrary to many reports on this being well over the hill, this case of half bottles in pristine cellar condition holds up quite well, albeit losing the freshness of fruit.

December 18, 2011 - Can't really score this one and agree with last couple of reviews, past its prime. I got very little fruit, alcohol and tannins. Opened up a little, but should have had it a year or two ago.

September 5, 2011 - I may have waited too long to open this one. Starts out all right with hints of dark fruit, but it does not last long. No finish, it dies in the mouth. Overall, a disappointment.

August 31, 2011 - Not a lot of fruit left. Mostly tannins.

July 10, 2011 - Still very dense in color, for a very rich aromatic profile of ripe cherries and baking spice. Tannin structure is prevalent but well balanced with the acidity and fruit, kind of like bittersweet chocolate. Really like where this is right now.
