March 4, 2022 - Lunch 2022.1 (Grappa Leichhardt): I disclose that I struggle with Barolo. I keep wanting to like it more than I do but the wall of tannin overwhelms me almost every time. This wine had the ripeness of the vintage, but on opening its all tar and no roses. With some air, meat and flowers. With the T-bone, spice, flowers, blackberry and the drying tannins soften. A rich and stylish Barolo, one of the better but still a Barolo 18.

November 25, 2021 - Not the best I have had from this house. There is some oxidation but overall it is an acceptable amount. A bit weak on the aromas. But flavours showing dusty fine puckering tannins, definite tar, dried fruits, touch of caramel, medium length on the finish. Not a "sweet" ripe style. Lots of bitterness here as well.

June 29, 2021 - Great Barolo from Damilano that was perfect for the fillet pasta with mushrooms and truffles in cream sauce. Roses, leather, fruit and tannins completely intact, in perfect drinking window right now!

February 2, 2018 - Damilano Single Vineyards (Ai Fiori (Langham Hotel on 5th Ave)): Poured from a mag. This wine was just on this night. It's very pretty and elegant and herbal and crisp autumn leaves and maybe just a touch of olive brine as well. I get a very ripe black plum and an intensity of flavor without being overpowering in the mouth. Layered and complex and just a great wine. Perhaps the wine that was shining the most this night.
