May 17, 2020 - I re-read my last tasting note on this and I must have had an “off” bottle las time. This was amazing. Red cherries, bit of menthol, sassafras, cut flowers, mushrooms, and candied orange rind! What a treat. Superfine tannins and lovely balance. Tertiary aromas of a properly aged Nebbiolo emerged a few hours into the bottle with tobacco, leather and orange marmalade.

November 29, 2019 - Red cherry, tar, dark composure. Medium minus tannin, high acid.

Holding just fine into Day 6 actually, in the fridge for a most of the nights, but more than half gone at that. Shows a distinct gunflint at first, almost like a cap gun. Goes away and for more of a seamlessly aroma’d wine. Goes swimmingly with my out of the freezer Veggie Bolognese, loaded with parm and kale. holding well, but maybe hasn’t been the most complex Martinenga ever. That being said, lovely wine. Given it’s ability to hold on into Day 6 (surprising, but this continued to hold, albeit modestly throughout), I’d extend the drinking window a bit, drink to 2026.

    No sediment.

October 20, 2018 - Aromas of earth and damp wood, bit of mushroom, hint of red cherry. Very dry, lean, with some sanguine notes and minerality.

October 29, 2017 - Vanilla waxy lavender and heat on the nose. Also a bit of earthy shrooms.
    Quick thin runny legs.
Some brown tight fruit on the initial palate.
The wine is spicy dead and tight w a sense of great potential if left open for approximately ever.......

September 27, 2012 - Dark Crimson ruby in color, with orange highlights. On the nose, this shows some dark red fruit, tobacco, menthol, and oak. This is fairly rich and round on the palate, with good concentrated flavor. However, I feel that it lacks the detail and elegance of the previous vintage. The finish shows some slightly rough tannins and high acidity with medium plus length.
