March 28, 2024 - Opened last night, it was at first like a good Gevrey, nothing more. Later in the evening, it was at 1er cru level with greater density and precision, but no Clos de Bèze terroir showing. Today at noon, it definitely showed Clos de Bèze terroir of dark fruit and musk. Still youthful, my advice is to hold another five years, at least, but if you're opening now, give it a long decant. Cellared since original release.

December 27, 2017 - Quite the disappointment. A grand cru in name only, this bottle from a fine vintage showed nothing of its breeding. A flat nose that occasionally teased forth a hint of raspberry, cherry and forest scents, but then retreated into flat tones. The nice dark red color belied the lack of much fruit or flavor development. While it is possible that this wine could need another few years to open, it is highly doubtful given the absence of any density or hints of nascent fruit or complexity.

November 1, 2016 - This is a very nice Clos de Bèze, opening in the glass with a complex bouquet of black cherry, cassis, rich soil, grilled meat, cocoa and what Michael Broadbent so astutely calls 'fishy Chambertin'. On the palate the wine is ample, full-bodied and structured around nice fine tannins and bright acids, but one does sense the high yields of the vintage in the form of a touch less concentration than the truly great renditions of this cuvée possess.

December 8, 2012 - Decanted briefly off its sediment and rebottled. This took a good three+ hours to open. Cherry and red fruit aromas with a strong minerality. Balanced, with an elegant feel and a long finish. Hold until 2015+. 89-91 pts.
