December 10, 2023 - The ‘93 Clos Vougeot is drinking perfectly right now, still having depth of fruit while the tannins have melted into the body of the wine. The only problem with this wine is I tasted it right after the ‘93 Musigny from Jadot, but honestly this stood up better than I expected.
On the nose, the Clos Vougeot showed redder fruit tones and more earthiness than the darker and more primary Musigny. I found very sweet red berry fruit, earth, iron, black truffle, red floral tones, and anise. On the palate, the wine is medium in body, lighter than the Musigny but still with good depth of fruit for a 30 year old wine. It showed a beautiful combination of evolution and freshness, with very sweet red fruit and floral tones, mint, earth, and iron. On the finish, hard candy like red fruit and florals lingered. -

June 18, 2022 - Drank from excellent provenance… maybe this was a freakishly good bottle… but wow I really loved this. Once the lovely funk blew off in glass (took 15 mins tops) this showed a wonderful truffled cherry blast in the nose, with additional mushroom and tea adding to the mix when the wine hit the palette.
Still nice acidity and structure for a 29y old wine, with a sneaky long finish. Excellent drinking experience :) -
