Community Tasting Notes 1

March 13, 2013 - Medium garnet / tawny with some bricking. Not a very attractive nose initially - close to wet animal fur / faecal matter!!! Did not decant but left bottle open for a few hours. The mature red fruits eventually evolved and the nose toned down though still very earthy. Tannins have fully integrated leaving a smooth light to medium bodied claret with aging red fruits, earth, mushroom and woody herbs. Medium length.

This wine taught us a lesson about pairing wines. Our sweetish predinner snacks did not do it any justice and almost made us lose hope with the bottle. The juicy pork ribs we had for our mains brought the wine back to life.
