November 4, 2023 - The Sixth Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir (Houston, Texas): Retail $45. Dark, even really darken color with dark red fruit, some earth, and just a smidge of funk on the nose. The palate is quite nice with dark fruit, a zippiness, and some depth. Excellent. 91 Points.

June 19, 2023 - Landsman (Covenant), Carneros, Pinot Noir, 2021
The 2021 Landsman Pinot was aged 10 months in French Oak, 30% new.
Nose: Clean, pronounced, and youthful notes of red cherry, redcurrant, plum, bramble, jamminess, green bell pepper, violet, lavender, vanilla and some cedar. Touch of smoke. On the palate, jammy red fruits: more cherry with jammy notes. Spice and some vanilla. Dry, medium(+) racy acidity, medium(-) tannins, concentrated, medium alcohol, medium(+) body, creamy, medium(+) intensity, with a medium(+) finish. This wine is very good, nicely balanced, and has good complexity. Can drink now but will improve and is suitable for aging 5-10 years.
    $50, 14%ABV, non-mevushal. Available through Covenant's Wine Club

April 17, 2023 - Retail $45. Under non-DIAM agglomerated cork. I have tasted a few wines from Covenant now and I even stopped by the Berkeley winery when I was in the Bay Area last week. I was impressed with this Carneros Pinot which is under the Landsman brand (which basically means "local" or "native"). Bright fruit, but held in check by the balancing zinginess, and is accompanied by hints of earth and spice. Tasty. I will be talking about the "Kosher" side of this wine soon on my blog, which essentially means that it was made be observant Jews. That's really it.
