December 19, 2021 - Somewhat unfairly served next to the ‘89, this showed tight and a bit angular but the wonderful flavors of La Miss dirt are lurking underneath. Not in the same league as the ‘89 but I’d give it more time to flesh out. 92+

December 13, 2021 - Drinking very well now with distinct complex Pessac characters. Savoury, smoky, earthy, retaining good fruits, having some masculine characters while being precise and pleasant. It has the tannic structure to keep it going for years. Old school Bordeaux classic approaching its peak.

December 11, 2021 - The 1995 and 1996 La Mission had a lot to say about the inherent consistency of LMHB and about the vintages themselves. The 1995 retained the earth, leather, and cigar notes seen in the ‘96 but what a totally different animal, brooding until it had time in the glass (despite a double decant 2.5 hours in advance) and then a bit brash. Here the cigar is smoked rather than fresh and the earthen elements are more conspicuous than the admittedly delectable black fruit, accented by soy. There’s still loads of tannin on the palate although it’s a fun wine to drink now, in its way.

    November 28, 2021 - Schwarzer Adler 2021 (Schwarzer Adler): - Decanted for 4h (is necessary) @Schwarzer Adler
    - Nose: Intense aromas with first notes of maturity, intense coffee, tobacco with blackberries and black tea, but also a hint of red fruit and dark plums. Great cinema. More Merlot coming trough than at the same time tasted Montrose 1996.
    - Palate: Wow fresh and lots of pressure present. Tobacco, damp leaves and dark fruit are prominent. Seems younger in the mouth. Medium + body and good drinking freshness, acidity medium+. Well integrated tannins (medium). Overall but still young!!
    - 95 points with 5-10 years potential. This is Bordeaux!
