December 21, 2023 - Poured into an Amadeo decanter about 30min prior to service. The 2018 Val di Suga BdM “classico” is a combination of fruits sourced from the estates three vineyards: Vigna del Lago; Vigna Spuntali and Poggio al Granchio. The wine pours a deep ruby with a near opaque, transparent core and a watery rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, teh wine is developing with morello cherry, carnations, dusty earth, orange pith and leather. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and drying. This was my second time drinking the classico and I’m quite keen to try some of the single vineyard expressions in the future. Drink now with a short decant or through 2033

May 23, 2023 - Montalcino trip, wine tasting at Enoteca di Piazza. Dark purple color, medium fruit nose. First Brunello taste freshly ripened fruits - modest cherries, currants, hint of plums, and into a slight earthy but quick finish, little complexity. Medium linger. Not bad, but less developed as other 2018
